“Watch your thoughts … they become habits, watch your habits … it becomes your destiny.” … So what are you thinking about? The key to resisting temptations is to put watching TV, the bad chill, unhealthy foods, and anything that is not productive to your long-term goals in a hard-to-get-to folder inside your mind. You can still find the folder because at times splurging & taking breaks from your grind is necessary, but it must be hidden somewhat. Your thoughts should be centered around what’s actually good for you & that’s ultimately for you to figure out. Figuring that out can be complex, but it can also be rather simple. One strategy is to just visualize what would happen after you do “XYZ”. How will you feel? Will you regret it? Will you be in a better spot for you? And then depending on the answers to those questions, you either do it or you don’t. Sacrificing what feels good for what’s actually good for you long-term is about seeking delayed gratification and staying true to your goal commitments. In the decision wars that happen every day, you choose what side you’re backing. Make that choice wisely.
Epictetus – “First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do.”
Eric Thomas (8:03) – “You have to ask yourself the thing you’re doing and the setback you’re going to get as a result of what you’re doing – is it worth the long term dream and goal? Is it worth it?”
