Life is a boxing ring. Either you get beat the f*** up & give up, get beat the f*** up & step up, or don’t even enter your ring. So what’s the move? … The whole “adversity happens; so overcome it” mentality you’ve been told before – it’s nothing new. I’ve written before on how to honor one’s time through adversity; I’ve even written about how I honor my adversity. Everyone knows the words … but that’s the issue – it’s like people hear the cliches/ideas so much it goes in one ear and out the other. My question is, how can you withstand outside punches in the light when you’re not punching yourself in the dark? The confidence & more importantly competence brewed from disciplining yourself, grinding towards goals, fighting off laziness/negativity, etc. prepares one for the punches in life. Where some people go wrong is they don’t go to battle with themselves first – so when they brawl with life, they falter. So grab your boxing gloves, get in fight mode, and go punch yourself. Muhammad Ali once said “The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses.” What the hell do you think he was talking about?!
Rocky Balboa (00:40) – “Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward … “
“Everybody gets knocked down … How quick are you gonna’ get up?”
