A strong will: An unwavering inner belief that leads to the focus, attitude, and clarity to give one a much greater chance of getting/becoming/achieving the desired goal.
It’s tied to how badly you want something, want to be something, or want to do something. Will can’t be seen or measured, though the product of a strong will (extreme focus, pain endurance, accomplishments, swagger) can be noticed to an extent. It’s not anything on the “outside” – not fake confidence, not talk, not any of that.
The paradox is that writing about will like I am, is kinda’ pointless because you can’t articulate it to someone that just doesn’t get it & even to someone that does get it, the explanation in words doesn’t give will it’s due either! So I guess this blog post is simply directed to those of you reading who “get it” 🙂 And to those people, I’d think you’d recognize Ray Lewis’ mentality in this video below. In any battle/competition (including the battle to fight off the weakest version of yourself) – Your will is your edge & greatest asset.
*** Ray Lewis – “I’m willing to give up something that I don’t think another player is willing to give up on every single play – not half of a game – but every single down I want to know if that person’s will is as strong as mine and I just don’t believe it.”
