Parenthood is the ultimate power. Particularly for a child’s first 5 years of life, parents have a heightened responsibility to develop a child’s self-love, intelligence, creativity, etc. If you’re talking about getting a step up in life, having amazing parents is a start. So in a world where so many people emphasize bettering the world, improving the “disadvantaged”, lifting families out of poverty, etc. – Why is parenting rarely brought up as a solution when it is in fact, THE SOLUTION? Think about that.
Any negative incident in the world can be mostly resolved from proactive parenting in hindsight too. Take a hypothetical scenario of a bully in school saying racist comments toward a classmate, who cries herself home due to the situation & goes into a downward spiral. Positive parenting toward both the bully AND the victim would improve the situation. What I mean is if the bully’s parents were more intentional in raising the bully to be open-minded and loving, (s)he wouldn’t have made the comments. And if the victim’s parents emphasized aspects such as positive self-love, courage, toughness, responsibility, etc. perhaps she wouldn’t have gone into such a downhill spiral. So pretty much a world with AMAZING parents can pretty much reduce the negative impact from any negative situation there is. Keep that in mind on your parent journey – never stop striving to become the best parent you can be AND encouraging others to do the same.
